The Problem
The property had:
— Thick 600mm stone walls
— Low ceilings and small windows
— No ventilation system, making the house unbreathable after insulation upgrades.
— Mould growth, due to trapped humidity.
— Ineffective cooking and shower ventilation, adding to the moisture problem.
A previous team attempted to address the issue by installing cheap extractor fans. Unfortunately, it made things worse:
— A poorly sealed vent allowed air leaks and significant heat loss, with the house becoming cold and humid.
— The fan pulled in external humidity rather than improving air quality.
— Resulted in high energy bills and insufficient ventilation.
